Having recently announced the postponement of the third annual two-day Cotton Fest in Johannesburg next month, organisers of the highly anticipated festival recently confirmed the full weekend line-up.

Cotton Fest was known for showcasing the diversities in various music genres with the aim of fusing the gaps within the different local movements. The festival was founded by the late rapper, Rikhado “Riky Rick,” Makhado, who died on February 23.

Although the rapper’s death caused a stir among family, friends and fans, Mkahado’s wife, Bianca Naidoo, confirmed that Cotton Fest would go ahead as planned.

“Cotton Fest needs to go ahead as planned by him! His love and belief in showcasing young and upcoming talent are unquestionable, which is how Cotton Fest came about a few years back. This is what Riky would have wanted to happen, and we should carry on his legacy,” said Naidoo.

This sold-out weekend urban music and fashion explosion will feature over 130 of South Africa’s finest musical talent.

The festival will take place on April 23 and 24 and will merge both well-known and young emerging South African artists over three stages.

Some of the artists were AKA, Big Zulu, Boity, Cassper Nyovest, Zakes Bantwini, Uncle Waffles, Kamo Mphela, and Heavy K.

Included in the high energy were various other lifestyle elements to keep all cotton eaters entertained.

Eaters can enjoy various on-site activities, a games area, a food court, a live skating competition, a cotton fest x puma customisation station, a retail fashion “tuckshop” featuring Cotton Fest merchandise, and other limited edition clothing items will be available for sale.

Artists will also be able to engage with the half-court art on site.

SA media giants mtvBase return as media partner alongside YFM for the 2022 edition of Cotton Fest.

Phase 2 tickets were expected to be available via Webtickets and Pick ’n Pay outlets nationwide from today (Friday).
