Have you ever worried about your dog or cat being alone at home while you’re out? If you’re a dog owner, that’s definitely happened, but thanks to an ingenious new gadget, this concern is a thing of the past.
Called the PetPhone from GlocalMe, this tiny device, less than the size of an action camera, attaches to the animal’s collar and has a number of useful features.
Of course, you can ‘phone your pet’ at any time since it’s a phone, but you can also check on their health stats, comfort, and location as it’s a smart device.
Together with the accompanying app on your phone, you have access to your pet’s motion status and also allow you to interact with your loyal companion with your voice while you’re out.
There is even an option to play your pet’s favourite music, if you’ve been able to identify such a thing.
Also, like any smart fitness device, you will also be able to track the daily activities of your pet. That data will allow you to work out their regular routine, whether it’s lazing about in the shade for hours or digging holes in your garden.
Of course, you can also track their physical activities, which could provide extra insight into their general health.
There is also an accurate GPS function in the event that your pet goes missing. This could be a lifesaver in locating your loved one quickly before anything bad happens.
The only real downside is the cost, as the cost to buy a PetPhone will set you back around R1,912 for shipping to South Africa. That includes a one-month free subscription to the GlocalMe service. For shipping and a 13-month subscription, it will cost you just under R3,000.
The annual subscription after that will be around R1,000 per year.
