Kaizer Chiefs on Monday made a slight adjustment to their fixture schedule ahead of their new CAF Confederation Cup journey.
For winning their first trophy in a decade last year when they lifted the Nedbank Cup, the Soweto Giants qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup. This despite a poor finish in the Betway Premiership, their second successive finish outside the top eight.
Chiefs take on Kabuscorp in Luanda, Angola on September 19, with the return match scheduled for a week later at FNB Stadium.
It means Chiefs needed an extra day to prepare for the African cup competition, and their fixture against the table-topping Sekhukhune has been affected.
Instead of playing Sekhukhune on September 17, the match has been moved up by a day.
“Kaizer Chiefs will now host Sekhukhune United a day earlier than originally scheduled,” said the club in a short statement.
The venue for the match remains unchanged, with the mid-week clash taking place at FNB Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
Sekhukhune top the table with 13 points, ahead of Chiefs only on goal difference.
Both sides have won four and drawn one to begin the new league season.
Champions Mamelodi Sundowns, in what has been seen as a quiet start, lurk menacingly in third place, just two points behind the top two.
Reigning champions Sundowns are gunning for an unprecedented ninth league title in a row, and they are still heavy favourites to achieve that as the richest club not just in South Africa, but the continent.
