Arriving as underdogs, Pirates stunned the log leaders with a first-half brace from Relebohile Mofokeng, securing three crucial points. The victory narrowed the gap to 15 points, but with four games in hand, the Buccaneers remain in contention for the top spot. This win could prove to be a turning point in their title chase, providing renewed momentum as the season reaches its crucial stages.

Meanwhile, Richards Bay secured a vital 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs at King Zwelithini Stadium. The result lifted the Natal Rich Boys to 11th place, moving them three points clear of the relegation zone. Chiefs, however, continue to struggle, sitting eighth in the standings. AmaZulu’s top-three ambitions also suffered a setback after a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to TS Galaxy. The loss dropped them to seventh place, five points behind third-placed Stellenbosch, having played a game more. Head coach Arthur Zwane is under increasing pressure as AmaZulu’s chances of finishing in the top three continue to fade.
