DIAMANTVELD High School’s first cricket team showcased their skills with a stylish victory against Grey College's Under-19 B-team in Bloemfontein.
Grey College batted first, setting a modest total of 146 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Exceptional bowling performances from Hanru Rademeyer and Rulo van der Merwe stood out, as both took two wickets each, keeping Grey’s batsmen under pressure.
In reply, Diamantveld chased the target with confidence, reaching the total in the 17th over. Hanru Rademeyer delivered an explosive batting display, smashing a quickfire 51 runs off just 17 balls, including an incredible eight sixes. He was well supported by Francois Holtzhausen, who played a composed innings of 42 runs off 29 balls.
Diamantveld secured a convincing victory by six wickets, underscoring their dominance on the day. This win highlights the team’s growing potential and promises an exciting season ahead.
