Bigger and better – Get ready for the 2023 Easter football Tournament

THERE is some good news for football fans in Kimberley with the promise of a thrilling, action-packed long weekend of soccer action on the horizon with the highly-anticipated Sol Plaatje Masters Football League Easter Tournament set to kick off this weekend.

And even better news for local fans is that this year’s tournament promises to be even more exciting than the last, featuring four action-packed days of action.

The tournament gets under way on Friday, April 7 at the Diskobolos Sports Grounds, where 35 teams from around the Sol Plaatje area will battle it out in what should be a series of thrilling encounters.

The action then continues at Diskobolos on Saturday, April 8 before moving to the AR Abass Stadium on Sunday April 9 and Monday, April 10.

Admission to the tournament is incredibly affordable, with tickets priced at just R20 for adults and R10 for children.

For those driving to the event, there is a nominal fee of R20 for cars to enter the venue. Fans will also have access to an array of delicious food and beverages on sale throughout the tournament, ensuring that they stay fuelled up and energised throughout the day.

But this weekend is not just about the football – this time around, the Easter Tournament is also a celebration of community, culture, and music. Fans can look forward to a DJ who will keep the crowds on their feet long after the final whistle has blown.

As excitement builds for the tournament, all eyes will be on the Colville Masters, who are returning to defend their championship title from last year. The team’s fans will undoubtedly be out in full force, cheering on their heroes and hoping for another victorious run.
