Kimberley Diamonds Social League results: Big wins, comebacks, and top checkouts

THE FOURTH weekly round of the Kimberley Diamonds Social Darts League produced emphatic wins, dramatic turnarounds and a reminder that experience still counts at the oche.

Hotshots 1 delivered the most dominant performance of the evening, with a 12-1 thrashing of Fantastic 4. From the opening throw they controlled proceedings, racing through the legs with clinical finishing and giving their opponents little opportunity to respond.

Hotshots 2 were equally ruthless, bouncing back after conceding the opening leg to Local Legends to secure a convincing 12-1 victory. The Legends struggled to find their doubles after their early breakthrough, and Hotshots capitalised.

In one of the night’s more competitive ties, Mustangs staged a strong comeback to defeat Blue Thunder 8-5. Blue Thunder had led 5-4 and looked poised for victory, but momentum shifted and the Mustangs closed out the match in style.

The feature clash saw Viceroy 1 take on Viceroy 2 in a tightly contested encounter. Veteran Eddie Pillay rolled back the years with a composed finishing display, guiding Viceroy 1 to an 8-5 win. Pillay also produced the highest checkout of the evening — a superb 109 — and, together with Bradley Pillay, recorded six 100+ scores each. In the women’s competition, Zeidi Kruger impressed with three 100+ scores of her own.

Meanwhile, the Dragons launched their Season 1 campaign with a series of evenly balanced matches.

In the first group, Bradley and Christiaan shared the spoils with one set each, while AC and Damien also finished level. Clinton proved too strong for both Leane and Zeidi, but Leane responded by defeating Damien to secure her first point of the group.

Group 2 delivered further tight contests. Liam overcame Ian 2-0 despite a spirited fightback, while Leane strengthened her position with a straight-sets win over Zeidi in the women’s clash. Cammy and Marieta could not be separated, ending one set apiece.

With commanding victories, competitive ties and standout individual performances, the Kimberley Diamonds league continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
