Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef were promoted to the position of co-coaches since the sacking of Nasreddine Nabi, and have guided the team to third in the league currently.

Bobby Motaung has praised the impact of Kaizer Chiefs’ co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef – but stopped short of guaranteeing them the job next season.
The pair began the campaign as Nasreddine Nabi’s lieutenants before being elevated to co-coach after the Tunisian was dismissed within the first two months of the season.
Aside from a brief wobble in December, Amakhosi have responded impressively under their stewardship and currently sit third in the Betway Premiership – two points behind perennial champions Mamelodi Sundowns and five adrift of Soweto rivals and leaders Orlando Pirates.
Despite that strong run, uncertainty over their long-term future continues to linger.
Following Nabi’s dismissal, Motaung said continuity was the reason the club retained members of the existing technical team. However, when asked whether Kaze and Ben Youssef would remain in charge beyond the current campaign, he offered no guarantees.
“We don’t know yet, I can’t say what happens in the future,” Motaung said, as per iDiskiTimes.
“But currently, there is a reason why we are where we are – it’s because of the consistency we kept and the management we have.
“In future, football is football, one never knows how the results are going. But with the vision we’ve got and the patience we’ve got – I think we’ve got a great vision and plan to bring those glory days back.”
For now, their future remains tied to results, but their steady hand has restored belief at Naturena at a time when stability was desperately needed. Whether they are ultimately entrusted with the long-term project or not, they have already shown they can steady the ship and keep Chiefs firmly in the title conversation – and in a results-driven industry, that may yet prove the strongest argument of all.
