Norman Football Club marks 16 years with vibrant youth tournament in Kimberley

Norman Football Club celebrated its 16th anniversary by hosting a youth soccer tournament at Floors Soccer Field, drawing strong community support and showcasing emerging talent across under-11, under-13, under-15, and under-17 divisions.

NORMAN Football Club celebrated its 16th anniversary on Sunday by bringing young players, families, and local clubs together for a full day of competitive football at the Floors Soccer Field in Kimberley. The atmosphere was lively, with parents and spectators cheering on the next generation of talent, as the club continued a tradition of growth and community engagement.

The Floors Soccer Field in Kimberley became a hub of activity on Sunday as clubs from the city and surrounding areas gathered for a full day of youth football. Parents lined the sidelines, teammates shared encouragement, and organisers watched another chapter of the club’s steady growth unfold. Those involved noted that the anniversary tournament continues to grow year on year, both in participation and support.

Across all age groups, the emphasis remained firmly on the football. Matches were keenly contested, and the standard on display reflected the value of regular competition for young players developing their skills in structured environments.

Excitement in all age divisions

The Under-11 division set the tone early with closely fought encounters. Academy of Sparks and Ritchie Atletico Madrid played out a lively 2-2 draw before Academy of Sparks edged the penalty shootout 5-4. Motherwells and White City were inseparable in a goalless draw, with Motherwells advancing on penalties. Hosts Norman FC claimed a solid 2-0 victory over King Zu Football School, while Power Boys from Barkly West showed composure when it mattered most, edging Academy of Sparks 1-0 in the final to lift the title.

In the Under-13 section, Ritchie Atletico Madrid emerged as the dominant force. They opened with a convincing 4-0 win over Norman FC, while White City progressed past Academy of Sparks on penalties following a scoreless draw. King Zu Football School advanced at the expense of Motherwells. Ultimately, Ritchie Atletico Madrid went on to complete their campaign by winning the final on penalties and claiming the trophy.

Motherwells from Colville were the standout side in the Under-15 category. After navigating a penalty shootout victory over Ritchie Atletico Madrid, they produced a composed performance to defeat Academy of Sparks 2-0 in the semi-final before going on to secure the title.

The Under-17 division delivered one of the day’s most competitive contests. A series of tight matches culminated in a dramatic final, where White City from Phutanang held their nerve in a penalty shootout victory over Ritchie Atletico Madrid to be crowned champions.

Gratitude and appreciation expressed for support

Norman Football Club manager Sydney Norman, along with the executive committee, expressed appreciation to all participating teams and the wider community for their support. Gratitude was also extended to Pastor Waiver of Trophy and Gift Centre for sponsoring the trophies, DJ Wilbur Harris for providing entertainment throughout the day, and Sharifa Ferris for her continued backing despite being unable to attend.
