NORMAN Football Club will mark 16 years of youth development this weekend by hosting a junior soccer tournament at the Colville Soccer Grounds, on Sunday, February 7, bringing together teams from across several age groups for a full day of competition.
The tournament will feature Under-11 to Under-17 teams and is intended as both a celebration of the club’s anniversary and an opportunity for young players to test themselves in a structured, competitive environment.
Sydney Norman, the owner of Norman Football Club, said the focus of the day extends beyond results on the scoreboard.
“It’s a day dedicated to soccer and soccer development, where young players can come together, show what they have to offer, and learn from one another,” he said.
While winners will be crowned in each age category at the end of the tournament, the emphasis remains on experience rather than trophies. Organisers say the format allows players to experience the demands and pressures of tournament football while competing against peers from different teams and age groups.
The event also reflects the club’s broader role within the local sporting community, where it has spent more than a decade developing young players and promoting participation in the game.
Coaches and supporters are expected to attend throughout the day, with organisers hopeful that the tournament will provide both meaningful match exposure for players and a platform to celebrate the club’s continued contribution to youth football.
