Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has announced he will not be signing a new contract, and will be leaving Manchester United at the end of the season.

Speculation over the last few weeks has been rife over the former Real Madrid star, with suggestions he was keen to take a pay cut in order to remain at Old Trafford.

Now the player has confirmed he will be calling time on his four-year stay with England’s biggest club.

“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life. From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club,” the 33-year-old Casemiro said.

“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”

The announcement comes just a few days after a man-of-the-match performance during United's 2-0 demolition of Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Casemiro joined United in 2022, and became a fan favourite due to his performances in the heart of midfield, and knack for scoring crucial goals. In 2023, he scored in the final of the Carabao Cup as United beat Newcastle United, and was also an important cog in their FA Cup victory of 2024, even though he was left out of the squad for the final.

Prior to moving to England, Casemiro spent nine years at Real Madrid, where he won five Champions League titles, three La Liga trophies, and a host of other competitions.
