SOCCER fans across the Northern Cape are gearing up for the 2026 edition of the 053 Future Stars Youth Tournament Easter Edition.

After a successful tournament held in Warrenton last year, the two-day event is set to return, promising fast-paced action, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a spotlight on the region’s emerging talent.

The 2025 Easter Games, held at Ikhusteng Stadium in Warrenton, drew teams from across the Northern Cape and beyond. In that tournament, Academy of Sparks (Kimberley) claimed the Under-13 boys title, with Kimberley Bucks finishing second. The Under-17 boys division saw Nkuke’s FC (Warrenton) lift the trophy, followed by Kimberley Bucks in second and Papercity Rovers (Pampierstad) in third.

Organisers hailed the event as a development platform, thanking coaches, match officials, teams, and supporters for their contributions.

Return of the Easter Edition in 2026

This year’s 053 Future Stars Youth Tournament Easter Edition will take place on April 4 to 5 at Warrenton Stadium. Play will run from 8am until late each day, featuring boys teams in the Under-13 and Under-17 age groups.

Both divisions will follow a Top 8 competition format, with a full set of team and individual awards.

In the Under-17 division, players must be born in 2009 or later. The Top 8 winner will take home R8,000, a trophy, and gold medals, with second place earning R4,000 and silver medals, and third place R2,000 with bronze medals.

The affiliation fee for Under-17 teams is R1,500.

For the Under-13 section, players must be born in 2013 or later. First place will receive a kit, a trophy, and gold medals, while second place earns silver medals. The Under-13 affiliation fee is R550. Organisers have noted that prizes are subject to change.

Meanwhile, individual awards across both divisions will recognise Player of the Tournament, Top Goalscorer of the Tournament, and Goal of the Tournament. Families attending can expect a welcoming environment, with food stalls and entertainment on offer. The good news is that admission is free for spectators.

Registration and draw details

Teams interested in competing must register early. Entries close on March 19, with the tournament draw scheduled for March 28. With only eight spots per division, organisers advise confirming age eligibility and submitting team details promptly.

Entries and enquiries are handled via WhatsApp at 063 725 1158.

Teams are asked to request an entry form, pay the relevant affiliation fee, and provide full team details. A deposit secures a spot in the Top 8 field, and banking details are provided upon request.

All in all, the 053 Future Stars Youth Tournament Easter Edition promises another weekend of competitive soccer, community spirit, and fun for families, as Warrenton once again hosts some of the Northern Cape’s most promising young talent.
