Joburg Super Kings spinner Prenelan Subrayen warned not to take the Durban’s Super Giants lightly in their upcoming clash on Thursday, the side’s first match at home in the new season of the SA20.

Despite having thrashed the Durban’s Super Giants by six wickets with 46 balls remaining at Kingsmead in Durban on Tuesday, Subrayen warned not to take them lightly in their upcoming clash in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Subrayen reiterated that the Super Giants, like any team in the SA20, have the ability to bounce back from defeats.

Moreover, the right-arm spinner emphasised that they are high in confidence heading into their first clash at home this season.

“I think it's a pretty exciting thing because they are a really good side and they have the ability to bounce back as does any team in the SA20,” Subrayen said.

“So for us, it will be a new day and a new challenge. I think after a bonus point win, I think the confidence levels are quite high.”

Subrayen returned figures of 3/16 during their bonus point victory in Durban and helped bowl the hosts out for 82, earning the Player of the Match award against his former team.

The spinner was also playing for the first time in his home town without wearing the home team’s shirt, as he was roped in by the Joburg-based franchise for the ongoing season.

Subrayen aired that he was apprehensive heading into the fixture in Durban.

“I was excited as well as a little bit apprehensive. I didn't know how the Durban crowd was going to react to me, but they were very welcoming,” Subrayen said.

“But I was pretty excited to come back. I think the apprehension part came with coming back to Durban with the crowd.

“But I think chasing 82 is, first of all, it wasn't the easiest of wickets to bat on, so chasing any low score would have been difficult. So, you had to have good plans and have a way of going about it.

“I think probably the advantage of batting second is you watch how the first innings plays out and then in your head as a batter or the batters from JSK, I think we probably found a way of working things out on that wicket and then the guys put it forward.”
