Kaizer Chiefs interim co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef was left to rue yet another frustrating draw as his side settled for a goalless Betway Premiership draw with TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
It was Chiefs’ sixth draw of the season so far, as they go into the Christmas break fourth on the log with 24 points after 13 games.
Meanwhile, arch rivals Orlando Pirates top the table on 28 points from 12 matches.
TS Galaxy hold eighth position on the log with 21 points from 14 outings.
“I think it was a very nice game, I think our fans enjoyed the game, unfortunately we’re unlucky to win this game because if you see the stats of this game you’ll see we deserved to win this game,” Youssef told SuperSport after the game.
There were also two contentious moments in the game when Flavio Silva appeared to have scored for Chiefs but was adjudged to have been offside, and later his teammate Khanyisa Mayo was brought down in the box but referee Skhumbuzo Gasa waved play on.
Youssef disagreed with both calls.
“We scored a goal, in my opinion a clear goal, a penalty … no penalty? So, in football what we know is if you don’t score you don’t win, if we scored a goal, we created more than 12-13 opportunities – 36 shots on target and finally we have to continue to work.
“I don’t want to repeat myself every time we’re unlucky, now we have this break time to correct our mistakes to continue to work. I’m so proud about the players, they did a good performance today. I’m so proud about all the players today even those coming from the bench, but that’s football.”
