THE SPRINGBOKS returned home to a hero’s welcome this week after completing a remarkable 2025 season, drawing high praise from SA Rugby President Mark Alexander for a campaign defined by excellence, unity, and relentless consistency.

The defending world champions delivered another year of top class rugby, securing the Castle Lager Rugby Championship title and achieving a second consecutive unbeaten Castle Lager Outgoing Tour to Europe. The team rounded off their season with five wins from five Tests in November, reinforcing their status as the number one ranked side in world rugby for the third year in a row.

In a statement on Monday, Alexander extended congratulations to Rassie Erasmus, Siya Kolisi, and the entire Springbok coaching, management, and playing group for a season that, in his words, “once again united our nation and inspired millions.”

“Your sacrifices, dedication, and unwavering commitment have not only delivered results on the field, but have also carried the spirit of South Africa across the globe,” he said. “The Springboks have represented our country with dignity and humility and continue to serve as ambassadors of what is possible when a group plays with heart and purpose.”

He commended the squad’s resilience and discipline throughout a demanding international calendar, highlighting their collective effort in further strengthening the Springbok legacy.

“This not only defines our rugby heritage, but it reminds us that the Springbok jersey represents more than sport; it embodies unity, hope, and the pride of our people,” Alexander added.

The SA Rugby President also extended gratitude to the organisation’s corporate partners and provincial unions, emphasising that their continued support remains vital to sustaining South African rugby’s strength and competitiveness.

“Your unwavering support makes these successes possible,” he said. “Our member unions and their equity partners play a crucial role in ensuring the long term sustainability of the game at every level.”

As the Springboks close the chapter on another successful season, Alexander said the achievements of 2025 stand as a testament to the power of rugby to bring South Africans together.

“On behalf of SA Rugby and the people of South Africa, I express our deepest gratitude and pride,” he concluded.

“You have made history and you have made our nation proud.”
