JOHANNESBURG lit up with pure SA20 energy as Montrose Primary School exploded with cheers, music, and unstoppable excitement, and not even the rain could slow the momentum. The SA20 Schools Tour arrived in full force, transforming an ordinary school day into a vibrant celebration of cricket, culture, and youth creativity.
Designed as a nationwide celebration ahead of Season 4, the SA20 Schools Tour aims to reconnect with communities and build excitement for the summer of cricket. And on this visit, it more than delivered.
Learners were starstruck as Joburg Super Kings favourites Steven Stolk and Donovan Ferreira stepped onto the field, immediately igniting the crowd. The pair spent time answering questions, signing bats, posing for photos, and sharing the joy of cricket with the next generation.
Stolk said the enthusiasm was infectious: “Spending time with the kids today was incredible. Their questions and pure love for cricket reminded me why this game means so much to South Africans. If this is the energy leading into Season 4, we’re in for something special.”
Ferreira echoed the excitement: “You could feel the excitement from the moment we walked onto the field. Days like today show how much cricket can uplift and inspire. These kids are the future of the sport and they brought unbelievable energy.”
The players even joined in freestyle rap sessions, singing and dance-offs, turning the morning into a fully interactive festival.
Guiding the festivities was charismatic TV presenter and SA20 20th player Moshe Ndiki, who kept spirits high despite the weather. He led the learners in high-energy moments to the new SA20 anthem, Put Your Hands Up, produced by international DJ Fedde Le Grand, a track that had the entire school chanting and moving in unison.
Moshe said the energy was unforgettable: “The screams, the chants, the joy, these kids showed me that cricket truly lives in their hearts. I loved every moment of today.”
A standout highlight came from acclaimed rapper YoungstaCPT, who delivered electric freestyle challenges. Learners threw out random words and he instantly turned them into clever, rhythmic verses that left the school roaring with laughter and admiration. His performance added another layer of culture, creativity, and connection to an already packed programme.
Despite the rain, the atmosphere only intensified, turning the visit into a high-powered celebration of sport, music and youth expression.
The Schools Tour is part of the wider build-up to SA20 Season 4, running from 26 December 2025 to 25 January 2026, promising fans across Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, Durban, Gqeberha and Paarl a festive season filled with world-class cricket and entertainment.
Supporters can look forward to headline stadium entertainment, including international DJ Shimza at the Opening Match and chart-topping sensation Will Linley at the Season 4 Final.
With both the opening match and final already sold out, fans are encouraged to secure their seats for the remaining fixtures before they’re gone.
