BRADLEY “Surprise” Ralani, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City winger, has officially stepped into management as the new head coach of Gaza United FC in the SAFA Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League.
The 38-year-old, who is also the father of Amajimbos star Emile Witbooi, joins Gaza ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, bringing a wealth of domestic and international experience. His appointment was confirmed by the club last week.
Ralani arrives after a stint with Hungry Lions in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, having previously played for Cape Town Spurs and turning out briefly for Kimberley Saints earlier this season.
Last year, he also completed a professional spell with Hungry Lions in the second tier.
The veteran attacker’s career includes eight seasons in Europe, where he represented Helsingborgs IF, IFK Hässleholm, Landskrona BoIS, and Lyngby BK. In South Africa, he developed through the Stars of Africa Academy under Farouk Khan before shining at Cape Town City and later lifting trophies with Sundowns.
Gaza United compete in Stream B of the Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League, alongside clubs such as Blues FC Development, Destiny United, G-Stasie FC, Jacksa Spears, Saints FC, Mighty Reds, Mighty Moovers, Ocean Swallows, SPU FC, Pearls United and United Rovers.
The club welcomed Ralani warmly, stating: “Gaza family let’s welcome new coach on board Surprise Ralani. New era begins. Welcome coach.”
Ralani’s reign has already begun on a positive note. Over the weekend, his side claimed a 2-1 victory over G-Stasie FC – the same fixture that had been listed as his first assignment when his appointment was announced.
With his tactical knowledge, professional pedigree and deep roots in youth development, Gaza United are hopeful that Ralani can guide them into contention for the league title and a place in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Play-offs, with the ultimate aim of earning promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
