St Patrick’s CBC celebrates sporting excellence at annual awards

St Patrick’s CBC celebrated its annual Sports Awards recently, recognising top achievers across cricket, netball, soccer, swimming, tennis, chess and hockey. The College Trophy for Sportswoman of the Year went to Patrisia Fernandes, while Nealyn Cupido received the College Trophy for Best All-Round Sportsman of the Year.

St Patrick’s CBC hosted its annual Sports Awards on November 21, celebrating a year of remarkable achievements across its sporting codes. Over 200 parents and sponsors attended the event, which showcased the talent, dedication, and spirit of the school’s athletes.

Guests were treated to a performance by the school’s Jazz Band from the School of Music and an inspiring address by world Para Powerlifting champion Ricardo Fitzpatrick. The evening also featured congratulatory messages from Springbok players Ox Nche and Feinberg-Mngomezulu, as well as Proteas batting coach Ashwell Prince.

Awards were presented across a wide range of sports, including cricket (boys and girls), netball, swimming, soccer, tennis, chess, and hockey (girls).

Special recognition was also given to teams who achieved exceptional success during the year: the boys’ under-16 hockey team for winning their league, and the girls’ under-19 cricket team for their victory in the SA20 Cricket Competition.

Individual honours highlighted outstanding young athletes:

  • Matthews Family Floating Trophy – Most Promising Young Sportswoman of the Year: Keira Williams
  • Beandstrom Family Floating Trophy – Most Promising Young Sportsman of the Year: Faizaan Kajee
  • Lash Trophy – Best All-Round Sportsman of the Year: Bakao Ntuane
  • College Trophy – Best All-Round Sportsman of the Year: Nealyn Cupido
  • College Trophy – Sportswoman of the Year: Patrisia Fernandes

The awards evening was a celebration of talent, perseverance, and school spirit, highlighting the next generation of sports stars emerging from St Patrick’s CBC.
