THE GRIQUALAND West Rugby Union (Griquas Rugby) has confirmed the continuation of its senior leadership team following a successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday in Kimberley. President Monte Engelbrecht and vice-president Johan Myburgh were both re-elected unopposed, securing another four-year term at the helm of the union.
Their uncontested return signals strong confidence within the rugby community, particularly after what the union described as a “historic and triumphant year” for Griquas Rugby.
Engelbrecht, who has led the union through a period marked by stability and notable achievements, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him.
“Being re-elected unopposed is a tremendous honour. This confidence in our leadership affirms the shared vision we hold for Griquas Rugby,” he said. “Our success this past season has shown what dedication, teamwork, and unwavering community support can achieve.
"The next four years bring even greater opportunity.”
Vice-president Myburgh echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of consistency as the union moves into its next developmental phase.
“Continuity is a strength, and we are proud to guide the union into its next phase,” he said. “We remain focused on sustainable growth, strengthening our development pathways, and building on our legacy both on and off the field.”
