THE Bovua Holdings 2nd Annual Community Cup recently delivered an unforgettable weekend of thrilling football, netball, passion, and pure community pride, cementing its place as one of the favourite sporting events in the region.
Organised by Johannesburg-based Bovua Holdings, a company proudly rooted in Barkly West through its director and management, the tournament has quickly become much more than just a competition. It is a powerful vehicle for youth development, combining sporting excellence with education, bursaries, and long-term empowerment.
“This year’s tournament has been described as a historical moment for the municipality,” said local community builder Frances Pidiwe. “We needed to revive community sports activities in Dikgatlong, and Bovua Holdings is doing exactly that, steadily and surely. The energy, passion, and unity made this year’s tournament unforgettable. It is giving back, enlightening, aligning sports development with education, and showing our young people that success on the field and success in life go hand in hand.”
On the soccer pitch, Pearl United lived up to their name, dominating the competition to lift the trophy and the R25,000 first prize. Cameroon Spurs fought valiantly to secure second place and R15,000, while Ama Kip Kip claimed third spot and R10,000.
In the netball competition, Young Tigers roared to victory, taking home the top prize. Lovers Paradise delivered an impressive performance for second place, with Pearl United Netball Club rounding out the podium in third.
A full day of netball also took place while spectators watched as teams battled it out on the courts.

The community of Dikgatlong extended heartfelt gratitude to Bovua Holdings for once again sponsoring the entire event and for their unwavering commitment to youth development through sport. Special thanks were also given to all participating teams, coaches, match officials, the local football association, volunteers, team management, and the hundreds of community members whose enthusiasm turned the stadium into a sea of colour and celebration.
The community came out in their numbers to support the soccer and netball on the day.
