Kimberley Rugby Club celebrates stellar season at annual awards ceremony

KIMBERLEY Rugby Club (KRC) celebrated the achievements of its players, coaches, and volunteers at its annual awards ceremony held last night, marking the conclusion of an exceptional 2025 season.

The event was a vibrant gathering of the club’s community, united in recognising the dedication, teamwork, and passion that have defined KRC’s journey this year.

Adding a special touch to the evening, three Griqua Currie Cup winners, Louerens Oosthuizen, Gustav Erlank, and Tiaan Lange, were on hand to present the awards. Their presence highlighted the close ties between KRC and the wider rugby community, inspiring players and supporters alike.

Awards were handed out across several categories, celebrating excellence and commitment on and off the field:

• Player of the Year: Sean Harding
• Players’ Player of the Year: Thapelo Mashodi
• Backline Player of the Year: Timothy Harding
• Forward of the Year: Ernst Wepener
• Under-21 Player of the Year: Xavier Salmons

Club officials and coaches delivered heartfelt speeches, commending the players for their perseverance and dedication throughout the season. They also outlined a vision for 2026, emphasising KRC’s continued focus on developing talent and fostering a strong rugby culture in Kimberley.

The club extended its sincere gratitude to sponsors, notably Bulperd Trailers for providing player apparel, and acknowledged the vital support from all contributors to the 2025 season’s success. Special recognition was given to Ms. Shakerah Drude for her exceptional work in securing sponsorships.

Volunteers and supporters also received thanks for their invaluable contributions, which have helped create the competitive and positive environment that KRC is known for.
