The Springboks have confirmed that experienced scrumhalf Faf de Klerk will link up with the squad in New Zealand for the second leg of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship. His inclusion comes as additional cover in the crucial scrumhalf position ahead of two highly anticipated clashes against the All Blacks.
De Klerk’s arrival boosts the squad to 36 players as they continue preparations in Auckland. The adjustment follows the absence of hooker Bongi Mbonambi, who remained in South Africa earlier this week to attend to family matters.
The Springboks are set to face the All Blacks at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday, September 6, before moving on to Wellington for their second match at the Sky Stadium on Saturday, 13 September.
Both fixtures are expected to draw global attention as the traditional rivals renew their fierce battle for Rugby Championship supremacy.
