KONOHA Martial Arts, from Kuruman, has made a powerful statement on the national stage after a record-breaking performance at the recent Free State Provincials and Northern Cape Trials held in Bloemfontein.

The dynamic team collected an astonishing 147 medals – 70 gold, 51 silver, and 26 bronze – across disciplines that included Karate, Kickboxing, Combat Sports, Boxing, and Grappling.

This standout achievement places Konoha among the elite martial arts academies in South Africa.

Their dominance was especially clear in the junior categories, where they clinched first place overall in the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-16 divisions, bringing home the top trophies. The senior team also impressed, finishing second overall.

But beyond the medal count, the club emphasised that the achievement reflects a deeper commitment to the values of martial arts: respect, honour, unity, and perseverance.

Clearly, for the club, this went beyond standing on the podium as they demonstrated the importance and value of standing together.

Konoha also praised its leadership team – Senseis Armand, Janko, and Andrea – for their dedication and preparation, as well as extending special thanks to MASA Free State President Master Liza and her organising team for hosting a professional, high-spirited tournament.

With sights now set on upcoming competitions, Konoha Martial Arts continues its journey with pride, purpose, and momentum.

Shihan Rainer Jacobs, spoke about how the achievements from the Trials and Provincials has motivated his team. “With this incredible milestone behind them, Konoha Martial Arts looks ahead to future competitions – stronger, prouder, and more determined than ever,” he said.
