Liverpool star Diogo Jota was killed in a car crash in Spain on Thursday morning. He was 28.

The accident occurred in Zamora, according to local media.

His brother André was in the car and also died, according to reports.

The Liverpool star had just got married 10 days ago during the off-season.

Diogo Jota's Impact on Liverpool's Premier League Triumph and European Campaigns

The Portuguese forward had been a vital cog of a powerful Liverpool side since joining the club in 2020.

In his time with Liverpool, Jota was part of their Premier League title-winning campaign this past season. He was also part of the side which won the FA Cup in 2021/2022 and finished runners-up in the UEFA Champions League that same season.

Jota first made a name for himself at Pacos de Ferreira when he joined in 2014. He scored 14 goals in 41 games, which saw him make a move to Atlético Madrid in 2016. While on loan from Madrid to Porto, Jota made headlines for bagging a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League that season.

Next was a move to Wolves in the Championship in 2017, when he scored 17 goals as the club won the Championship to earn promotion to the English Premier League.

As then-coach Jürgen Klopp sought to bolster an already powerful Liverpool attack which included Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, and Roberto Firmino, Jota signed for a fee of R1.07 billion.

Jota was known for his passing and striking ability with both feet and had already represented Portugal on just under 50 occasions.
