The Sol Plaatje Local Football Association (SPLFA) will this weekend host a technical and talent identification and development seminar for their youth and amateur coaches.
The seminar will be facilitated by renowned high performance specialist and talent identification guru, Dr. Walter Steenbok.
In a telephonic conversation with the DFA, Dr. Steenbok expressed his gratitude at the invitation of the SPLFA in conducting this seminar to share his knowledge and learn as well from the many colleagues in football from the region.
He explained that the seminar will deal with topics in strategy development, talent identification and development, conceptualisation of the playing philosophy and research around age maturation, and relative age effect.
As the former technical director of the South African Football Association (SAFA), Steenbok's passion for national technical development has seen the revitalisation of the youth national teams and coach education in the last three years.
He is a SAFA Professional Coaching License and CAF A Diploma holder. Furthermore, he also has two Masters degrees (MBA in Sport Management and MSc in Sport Directorship) and recently completed a PhD in Sport Science with the University of Johannesburg.
