Tight races and big wins across Frances Baard Hollywoodbets Regional League streams

SOL PLAATJE University (SPU) confirmed their status as top dogs of Stream A of the SAFA Frances Baard Hollywoodbets Regional League with a 2-1 win over a struggling Real Diamonds FC team at the FNB AstroTurf on Sunday.

SPU are comfortably ahead on 58 points over second-placed Dalton Brothers, who, having not given up the fight for top spot, hammered KwaNobanu Celtics 5-1 at the same venue the day before.

Other results from the weekend's action saw Kwa-Nobantu Celtics redeem themselves to a degree in a hard-fought 1-1 draw with fourth-placed Galeshewe Stars. 

Meanwhile, in the Dikgatlong, Stream B, hosts Phelindaba United were beaten 2-3 by visitors Seragamajwe on Saturday. Pelindaba (22 points) now find themselves fifth on the Stream B log, while Seragamajwe (26) are third, behind FC Barcelona (38), and log leaders Kgatelopele (39).

Stream C (Magareng/Phokwane) saw runaway log leaders, and the thus far unbeaten Skema Unite run out easy 2-0 winners over the log’s bottom dwellers Bophirima Try Again at Andalusia Park on Saturday.

Skema Unite, on 54 points, are currently well ahead of second-placed Pampierstad Express (49), but need to slightly tighten up their defence as they may feel that, despite their win/loss record, they have let in too many goals for their liking.

For their part, Pampierstad Express claimed a 2-0 walkover against Young Stars in Ganspan, which keeps them in the hunt for top spot.
