Kakamas Juventus Football Club have been crowned champions of the Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League Play-offs, clinching their place in the prestigious SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Play-offs.
Guided by coach Thulani Nkosi, a former Upington City mentor, Juventus showcased their resilience and class throughout the provincial play-offs staged at Mxolisi Dicky Stadium in Upington on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
They edged Kimberley Saints 1-0 in their opening match before sealing the title with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over NC Professionals later in the day.
Coach Nkosi said that he urged his players to exert pressure on their opponents, especially since Juventus were strong in the air. The pressure paid off as the defense of NC Pros became more and more desperate, until they lost shape and were pounced upon by the Juventus strikers.
The triumph means Kakamas Juventus will proudly represent the Northern Cape at the national stage of South Africa’s third-tier football competition, where provincial champions battle for promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Nkosi’s charges join The Bees FC from Mpumalanga, African Warriors from the Free State, and Midlands Wanderers from KwaZulu-Natal as confirmed qualifiers for the national play-offs.
The Bees secured their spot with a commanding 3-0 win over Liver Brothers at Naas Stadium on Saturday, May 3, finishing top of their provincial league with 73 points from 30 games.
With momentum on their side and a passionate support base behind them, Kakamas Juventus will be hoping to extend their fairy-tale run when they take on the best from across the country at the national finals.
