Galeshewe is gearing up for an exciting day of action as the city prepares to host the highly anticipated "All Human, All Equal" Women's Boxing Tournament.
Set for Saturday, April 26, this event will showcase the talent of female boxers from across South Africa and beyond. Hosted by Moroke Boxing Promotion in collaboration with the Northern Cape Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture and Boxing South Africa (BSA), the tournament promises to be an exhilarating display of strength, skill, and determination.
A Championship Lineup
The tournament will feature a series of thrilling bouts, with boxers from the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Free State, and Northern Cape all vying for victory.
The main event will see South Africa’s Nomusa Ngema, the reigning Junior Featherweight Champion, face off against Pamela Matunga from Zimbabwe in what promises to be an intense eight-round contest. Boxing fans are eagerly anticipating this clash, with Ngema aiming to defend her title and prove why she’s at the top of her division.
In the supporting main bout, former South African junior featherweight champion Matshediso Mokebisi will take on the promising Eastern Cape boxer Azasakhe Jamani in a highly anticipated lightweight clash over eight rounds.

Matchmaker Archie Jack emphasised the significance of the tournament not only for boxing but also for the empowerment of women in sports.
"This event is a huge milestone for women’s boxing, especially in the Northern Cape. It's about showcasing talent, breaking barriers, and encouraging young girls to pursue boxing," said Jack.
"We hope that by hosting events like these, we can inspire the next generation of female athletes and ensure that boxing becomes a more accessible and inclusive sport."

The event also hopes to inspire more private sector support for women’s sports. As Jack pointed out, "For women’s boxing to continue to grow, we need the backing of the private sector. This tournament is a step in the right direction, but we need everyone to get involved to make a lasting impact."
The tournament will be held at the Galeshewe Recreation Hall, starting at 3pm on Saturday, April 26. In the lead-up to the event, the weigh-in will take place on Friday, April 25 at 12 noon, and the public is encouraged to come and witness the excitement. The weigh-in will be held at the Mokone Lifestyle Village, located between Botsang Street and Magashula Street.
