IN A HEARTFELT and symbolic gesture, Aztec Masters Football Club on Sunday presented a framed T-shirt to their president in appreciation of his unwavering dedication and leadership.

The tribute coincided with the club’s recent 40th anniversary, marking both a celebration of its legacy and a personal token of gratitude.

Though slightly delayed – with Aztecs officially turning 40 last month – the presentation was filled with emotion as members honoured the man who has guided the club through four decades of resilience and growth. The framed T-shirt, now a lasting symbol of his service, captures the unity, work ethic, and passion that have defined the team since its founding.

Club founder Omphemetse ‘Stopa’ Mabula shared his appreciation during the ceremony, saying: “It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I thank members of this great team in recognition of his contribution, love and dedication to sport and football in particular.”

Visibly moved, the president thanked the team for the meaningful tribute, remarking: “I have run out of words to thank you all for the gesture of acknowledgement. To put the cherry on top, the players showed guts and determination in winning the encounter against Madrid on Sunday. I shall forever be grateful for your contribution to this club. May God bless you all ... You are somebody; just work.”

That same-day victory over Madrid added a triumphant note to the celebration, reinforcing the close bond between leadership and team spirit.

As the framed shirt takes its place among the president’s most valued keepsakes, it stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Aztec Masters – a club built on passion, community, and the love of the game.
