The SAPS National Tennis Championship, held in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, from March 16 to March 21, showcased top law enforcement talent from across the country. The tournament featured four divisions – Under-49 and 50+ for both men and women – drawing 16 male and seven female competitors in the Under-49 categories and 16 male and nine female players in the 50+ groups.
Lieutenant Colonel Anette Moses, competing in the 50+ women’s division, delivered an impressive performance, securing a sixth-place finish. She faced Meyer JVJ from the Western Cape in the semi-finals and went on to defeat another Western Cape player, Hufke, in the finals with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 victory.
In the Under-49 men’s category, Sergeant Moreece Moses from Kimberley claimed the number one ranking, while Warrant Officer Mario Titus from Upington secured the fifth spot. Their outstanding performances earned both Moses and Titus selection for the SAPS National Team, which will compete in the prestigious Inter-Departmental Security Cluster Tournament.

This event, hosted by the SANDF in Pretoria from May 5 to 9, fosters collaboration among security agencies and has been dominated by the SAPS team for the past three years.
The SAPS National Team consists of 12 male and six female players, along with an administrative official and a manager. With Northern Cape officers among the ranks, the team will look to continue their winning streak in Pretoria.
