THE GRIQUAS delivered a crushing 118-3 victory over the Border Bulldogs in their SA Cup clash at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane on Friday, marking their second consecutive 100-point performance against the Eastern Cape side, and racking up a hat trick of wins in the 2025 competition.

In last year’s edition of the competition, Griquas triumphed 119-6 in Kimberley, and this latest performance showed once again the gap between the professional Griquas – Currie Cup finalists in 2022 – and the semi-professional Bulldogs.

Griquas were in complete control from the outset, with Gurshwin Wehr leading the charge, crossing the whitewash four times.

Substitute utility back Dylan Maart and hat-trick hero Gustav du Rand added to the scoreboard, while Sako Makha and Dandre Delport each grabbed a brace.

Former Bulldogs forward Athenkosi Khethani also dotted down, along with Marco De Witt, Connor Mahoney, and Stephan Smit.

Flyhalf George Whitehead contributed six conversions, while Thomas Bursey added seven, sealing a commanding performance. The only points for Border came from a lone penalty by Maxwell.

Griquas will be pleased with their dominant display as they continue to build momentum in the SA Cup, while Border face the Leopards in their next fixture at Sisa Dukashe next Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Pumas remained unbeaten after a 46-38 victory over the Cheetahs in Nelspruit, despite being reduced to 14 men. In Port Elizabeth, Eastern Province claimed their first win under coach Allister Coetzee, beating the SWD Eagles 39-26.
