A Historic First
South African rallying is breaking new ground with the 2025 Fouriesburg Rally, the first-ever National Rally Championship (NRC) and Northern Regions Rally Championship event in this picturesque Free State town.
Just over 400km away from our own Diamond City and nestled in the stunning Brandwater Basin, surrounded by the Witteberg and Rooiberge mountains, Fouriesburg provides a breathtaking backdrop for the season’s opening round on April 25-26.
Organisers promise a challenging event that shatters the stereotype of the "Mielie Field Grand Prix." Expect twists, turns, and elevation changes that will push drivers to their limits.

Championship Contenders to Watch
Son of rally legend Jan Habig, Benjamin Habig Jr. is determined to make 2025 his year. Teaming up with co-driver Barry White in a VW Polo 4WD Turbo, Habig Jr. is aiming for championship glory and looking to step out of his father’s shadow.
Reigning National 4WD Champion Chris Coertse is back behind the wheel of his Mazda 2, supported by the experienced Rally Technic team. With two national titles already under his belt, Coertse is a serious contender, but mystery surrounds his new co-driver — a surprise announcement may be in store.
The reigning 2WD champions, Anton and Isabel Raaths, are ready to defend their title in 2025. Their history-making win in the newly established 2WD Championship, sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa, has set a high benchmark for competitors.
The Return of Fan Favorites
Rumors swirl that Andrea Duarte, the rally-driving supermodel, may trade her runway heels for a racing suit once again after stepping away to start a family. Her return would add excitement to an already stacked field.
After a challenging 2024 season, the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, led by multiple champion Guy Botterill, is out for redemption. With Mandla Mdakane gaining confidence on gravel, expect the Toyota squad to be a force in 2025.
One of rallying’s most charismatic figures, Jono Van Wyk, returns after a tough 2024 season. Fans eagerly await news on his new car, but one thing is certain — he’ll bring the thrills and fearless driving he’s known for.
Exciting Developments in the Sport
The AR 2 class, designed for entry-level 4WD rally cars, is set to make the sport more accessible. However, Paul Van Niekerk won’t debut his VW Polo AR 2 until the NTT Tzaneen Rally, adding to the anticipation.
Northern Regions Champions Johan Strauss and Elzaan Van Der Schyff are ready to shake up the competition with their newly rebuilt Subaru Impreza, promising an electrifying performance.
After missing the 2024 season due to gearbox issues, rally veteran Theuns Joubert returns in his S2000 Toyota Auris, teaming up with Schalk Van Heerden. Their comeback adds even more depth to an already competitive field.
The 2025 Season: Bigger, Faster, and More Competitive
With new cars in production and a revised NRC points system, where class points now matter more than overall finishes, the 2025 season is shaping up to be one of the most strategic and unpredictable yet. Each event will feature Power Stages, awarding bonus points to the top five finishers, adding a fresh layer of excitement and ensuring that every second counts in the championship race.
The Countdown Begins
Get ready for a high-octane season opener in Fouriesburg on April 25-26! With breathtaking scenery, top-tier drivers, and intense competition, this rally is not to be missed.
Organisers have extended a heartfelt thank you to the farmers, Greater Fouriesburg Tourism NPC, Fouriesburg Agricultural Association, and the local community for their support in making this event possible.
