Hoërskool Diamantveld’s (DHS) Under-15 and senior cricket teams were scheduled to face off against Duineveld this past weekend.
Unfortunately, the Under-15 match was called off due to rain, but the first team put on a spectacular display delivering an impressive performance despite some weather disruptions.
The senior team flexed their muscle and dispatched their Upington visitors with a massive 136-run win.
Batting first, Diamantveld posted a solid total of 199/7 in their allotted 35 overs. Waldo Steenkamp was in explosive form, smashing a quickfire 55 off just 34 balls.
After the change of innings, DHS picked up where they left off and completely dominated with the ball, restricting Duineveld to a mere 63 runs before bowling them out.
The standout performer in the DHS bowling attack was Francois Holtzhausen, who tore through the Duineveld batting line-up with his spin bowling, claiming an incredible 5/17 runs.
In the end, Diamantveld's commanding 136-run victory highlighted their strength in both batting and bowling, giving future opponents something to consider before facing the DHS juggernaut.
