“Obviously, you cannot look too much in the front because you never know what will happen in the next game,” Cardoso remarked, reflecting on the importance of concentrating solely on the upcoming derby.
“Today, we had an intention, but we could not follow it through because the game was asking for things, and I needed to do it.”

Cardoso’s immediate challenge lies in harnessing his squad's potential against SuperSport United this Wednesday.
Maintaining competitive edge amid a congested schedule, which includes four matches in nine days, will test the resilience of the Sundowns line-up. Cardoso hopes that striker Peter Shalulile will continue his impressive form following a brilliant performance against Golden Arrows last Sunday.
Shalulile’s early introduction in the previous match proved pivotal, as the Namibian international not only won a penalty shortly after substituting for midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise but also scored two goals in a resounding 4-0 victory.

“First half, quite tricky, a different approach as we expected from our opponent. They changed the structure and closed much more of the spaces,” Cardoso noted.
