BRAZILIAN forward Endrick shed tears of pride after signing a six-year contract with Real Madrid, days after celebrating his 18th birthday.
The LaLiga club had agreed to sign Endrick from Sao Paulo-based Palmeiras in 2022, with a view to him joining Madrid in July 2024 after turning 18.
Spanish media reported that Endrick, who will wear Real’s number 16 jersey, was signed for an initial fee of €35 million (R695m) with a further €25m in possible add-ons.
“This is crazy! I’m so happy. Since I was a kid I have always been a Madrid fan and now I am going to play for Madrid,” Endrick said at his presentation ceremony.
“I don’t have words to describe what I’m feeling. I always wanted to be here. I wanted to play for Madrid. It was a dream. Today it is a reality.”

A product of the Palmeiras academy, Endrick has scored three goals in 10 appearances for Brazil since his debut last year and is the youngest male player to score an international goal at Wembley. He scored 21 times in 82 Palmeiras games.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Real Sociedad for the transfer of Spain centre- back Robin Le Normand, both LaLiga clubs said on Saturday.
Neither Atletico nor Sociedad disclosed the financial details, but Spanish media reported that the deal will be worth around €30m plus add-ons. The length of the 27-year-old’s contract was not revealed.
“Atletico and Sociedad have reached an agreement for the transfer of Le Normand. The deal will be finalised in the coming days when the player returns from his holiday,” Atletico said in a statement.
Having started his career with Ligue 1 side Brest, the France-born player joined Sociedad in 2016. He has since made 221 appearances for Sociedad’s first team and won the Copa del Rey in the 2019/20 season.
“We’ll always remember his dedication and gratitude to the colours that have shaped him into the player he is today. Good luck,” Sociedad said on social media platform X.
Capped 17 times, Le Normand was part of Spain’s victorious 2024 European Championship team.
