Tricha returns with medals for team and country

Tricha Richards, a talented Grade 9 student from St. Patrick’s CBC School, recently wowed audiences at the 18th Rhythmic African Championships in Kigali, Rwanda.

She impressed everyone with her skills in gymnastics and won a bronze medal for her ball routine, ranking third overall individually. Tricha also helped the South African team secure second place overall. Her performance shows she's a rising star in gymnastics.

For Tricha, winning this medal is not just about standing on the podium. It's the fulfilment of a lifelong dream and an important step toward becoming a great athlete. She's always wanted to win an international medal and wear the South African colours, and now that dream has come true.

It shows how hard she's worked and how determined she is to succeed.

When Tricha arrived back at Kimberley Airport, her family and teammates greeted her warmly, bringing tears of joy to her eyes. Surrounded by their love and support, she stays focused on her gymnastics, believing that hard work pays off.

As she looks to the future, Tricha and her coach, Tazmiah, are determined to reach even higher in the sport. The young gymnast says she’s thankful for the support of her community and everyone who helped her succeed, and she wants to show how sports can be a positive influence for children, keeping them on the right track.

Reflecting on her momentous achievement, Tricha shared her overwhelming emotions while standing on the podium, enveloped by the stirring notes of the South African anthem.
