WITH the National Under-18 Basketball Championships on the horizon, the Provincial Under-18 team was put through their paces when they played a warm-up match against the Celestials ladies last week. This game served as valuable preparation for the upcoming National Under-18 Championships, set to take place in Bloemfontein.
The Under-18s, eager to make their mark in the national arena, put on an impressive display of skills and teamwork during the warm-up game. With the championship just around the corner, this fixture allowed them to fine-tune their strategies and build chemistry among the team members.
Their commitment and determination are palpable as they set out to bring glory to their city in the upcoming tournament.
According to Northern Cape Basketball Association Provincial Treasurer Mzukisi Sitsili, this weekend promises even more excitement as both the girls and boys Under-18 Provincial teams will play preparatory games.
“These games will serve as vital stepping stones for the young athletes, offering them a chance to fine-tune their skills and gain valuable experience,” Sitsili told the DFA. “All lovers of basketball are invited to go in numbers to give the Under-18 Provincial teams a warm send-off on Sunday at the Kimberley Library parking lot at 1pm,” he added.
Sitsili made a point of inviting spectators to the warm-up games. “Basketball enthusiasts from all walks of life are invited to witness the future stars of the sport in action as the Under-18 Provincial teams gear up for their upcoming challenges,” he said.
“Let us unite as a community, rally behind our talented young athletes, and ensure they receive the resounding support they deserve. Together, let us make this weekend’s basketball fixtures a memorable event and showcase our unwavering passion for the game,” Sitsili concluded.
