THE KIMBERLEY Pirates Tug of War Club held a fund-raiser at the Pirates Club grounds on Saturday with the dual purpose of seeing if they could get more people interested and involved in the sport of tug of war and use the funds generated to improve their field and the equipment they use.
There were several teams that entered to take part in the charity cum social event. Some teams were well trained in the sport while some participants were total amateurs with no training.
The teams that entered the Pirates Tug of War Business Challenge were: Acacia Park, Solhar, NC Pumps, Norchman Diesel Tech, Iveco, New Vaal Motors, Pirates Club (Bar) and the DCD Bike Club.
At the top four podium places at the end of the event were: Pirates Club (gold), Solhar (silver), Norchman Diesel Tech (bronze) and New Vaal Motors (fourth).
The organisers issued a public-wide invitation to all interested persons and corporates who are keen to get involved with Tug of War sport, saying they should call Tienie Struwig on 060-988-8627 during office hours or send text messages via WhatsApp.
