In a harrowing development in the search for a missing woman, police dug up the decomposed body of a 27-year-old reportedly buried in a shallow grave on a farm homestead in the Kloofeind area, just outside Bloemfontein.
The discovery came after complex crime intelligence efforts and an alleged visit to a sangoma by the suspect, a 34-year-old farm worker, who has since been arrested.
On Monday, 9 February 2026, a team of police crime scene experts arrived at the designated farm along the N8 National Road between Bloemfontein and Petrusburg, following the suspect’s directions to the gravesite.
The victim, known to be the suspect’s girlfriend, had been reported missing since Saturday, 17 January 2026. It is revealed that instead of cooperating with authorities, the suspect initially provided a false narrative, claiming that the victim had left the farm to visit her aunt in Pieter Swarts, Bloemspruit.
After a missing person report was officially filed on Friday, 30 January 2026, investigators worked tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Their diligent efforts eventually led to the suspect, whose inconsistencies in his account sparked further scrutiny and ultimately guided them to the grim location where the woman’s remains were found.
