One of the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of DJ and security consultant Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, will appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a formal bail application.
Victor Majola faces charges of murder and premeditated murder following the fatal shooting of DJ Warras on December 16, in Johannesburg.
Majola was expected to apply for bail earlier, but the state requested a postponement.
He was arrested last month in connection with the killing of the popular media personality.
Last week, Majola’s lawyer, Dumisani Mabunda, said his client is likely to be released on bail when he returns to court.
Mabunda told journalists that the state does not have a strong case against Majola, 44, and that he stands a good chance of securing bail.
“This accused was not arrested at the crime scene, he was not arrested on the same day of the incident, and during the arrest nothing illegal was found in his possession,” Mabunda said.
“There is nothing that links this particular accused to this matter, except a statement by one of the former co-accused, whose charges were withdrawn, alleging that Mr Majola was involved.”

He added that the state lacks a prima facie case and that there are exceptional circumstances warranting bail.
“The court will, of course, consider both the state’s version and ours and then make a determination,” Mabunda said.
“But based on the facts at hand, we believe there is a very good chance that the accused will be released on bail, albeit with conditions.
During the court proceedings, the magistrate asked about Majola’s well-being in custody and whether he had received medical treatment at the Johannesburg prison.
Majola confirmed he had been attended to and told the court he saw a doctor on Monday.
Majola has previously claimed to be injured and requested medical attention during an earlier court appearance.
Stock was shot and killed outside the Zambesi House building in Johannesburg’s central business district while working as a security contractor at the premises.
