Boxing Day lived up to its name in Jeffreys Bay when drunk rival bikers went at each other in a bare-knuckle brawl at a popular local pub.

The fight escalated so severely that police were called to the scene at the Jolly Dolphin.

After the sheer mayhem, the Jolly Dolphin issued a statement apologising for the fist-fueled frenzy and stating that everyone involved had been banned.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli said the incident occurred on Friday afternoon.

"Police can confirm that they attended a complaint of fighting that broke out between two groups of bikers in Da Gama Road," Nkohli told IOL.

"The law-enforcement agencies managed to contain the situation, but up to so far, there is no criminal case that has been opened."

The fight was caught on a cellphone video.

Seen by IOL, the video shows men swinging at each other while dance floor music blasted on. A woman then jumps in, taunting one of the fighters.

Partygoers tried to step in, but the bikers refused to back down.

The fight got so rough that at one point, two men ended up on top of each other, trading punches.

One man even ripped off his shirt while another's face was full of blood.

Fuming, the shirtless biker kept lunging at his opponents, swinging with full force.

In a shocking twist, a woman leaps onto a table, hurling what looks like booze everywhere.

Panicked patrons watched in shock while others ran for the exits.

Scattered across the tables were a 750ml brandy in an ice bucket, beer bottles, and a cider bottle.

In a statement, seen by IOL, the Jolly Dolphin said the fight was "unacceptable".

"We would like to make it very clear that Jolly Dolphin does not condone violence of any kind and does not stand for such behaviour," it said.

"The safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment of our patrons, staff, and community remain our highest priority.

"In response to this incident, we have implemented stricter security measures with immediate effect.

"Security checks will now be conducted more thoroughly, and our overall security presence has been significantly increased.

"We have also added professional bouncers from Smhart Security to further strengthen safety on our premises."

It further said all individuals involved in the fight have been permanently banned from Jolly Dolphin.

"We sincerely regret the incident and any discomfort it may have caused," the Jolly Dolphin said.

"We would like to reassure our patrons that security is guaranteed day and night, and every possible step has been taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment."

Jolly Dolphin is no stranger to controversy.

Its erstwhile owner Vasti Opperman was arrested at the end of 2024.

She was slapped with more than 20 charges of fraud after she allegedly scammed people out of millions of rand through her investment scheme, Arcus Invest.

She is out on R40,000 bail.
