Suspects travelling in four vehicles rammed, bombed and robbed a cash-in-transit armoured vehicle in Thokoza on Saturday afternoon, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A 13-year-old girl was wounded by a stray bullet when suspects bombed a cash-in-transit vehicle during a robbery in Thokoza on Saturday afternoon.
Police are searching for an unconfirmed number of suspects following a cash-in-transit robbery, during which an armoured vehicle was bombed and an undisclosed amount of money stolen.
The incident occurred at about 1:30 pm.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the robbery and said the suspects were travelling in four vehicles.
“It is reported that the cash-in-transit armoured vehicle was driving in Thokoza when it was rammed by a white Mercedes-Benz, forcing it to capsize,” Masondo said.
He said several suspects then disarmed the security officers and detonated explosives on the armoured vehicle, before taking an undisclosed amount of cash.
“Other suspects were shooting at the escort vehicle,” Masondo said.
A 13-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet and taken to hospital for medical treatment, he added.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
