Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia will oversee festive season safety operations in KwaZulu-Natal, visiting malls and hotspots, accompanied by top SAPS officials and hosted by the provincial commissioner.

Acting Minister of Police, Professor Firoz Cachalia, will undertake a Festive Season Operations oversight visit in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
He will be accompanied by the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Fannie Masemola, and Deputy National Commissioners.
SAPS spokesperson Colonel Amanda Funani said the delegation will be hosted by the Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, during the oversight visit.
“The Minister of Police, Professor Feroz Cachalia, accompanied by the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Fannie Masemola and Deputy National Commissioners, will be hosted by the Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during the Festive Season Operations oversight visit in KwaZulu-Natal,'' said Funani.
Funani said the programme will include engagements on the ground in key areas across the province.
“The visit will include walkabouts at malls and other identified spots in the eThekwini District and Umkhanyakude District (Emanguzi),” she said.
Funani added that the programme will be preceded by a multidisciplinary parade at Hoy Park at 10 am.
