Yellow Level 2 weather warning issued for thunderstorms across Gauteng and North West

Saws has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe weather across parts of SA.

A Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours has been issued for several provinces, including the North West and Gauteng, on Tuesday.

The South African Weather Services said this weather will be accompanied by excessive lightning, large amounts of small hail, and strong winds over the south-western parts of North West, the eastern and northern parts of the Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Mpumalanga Highveld and escarpment areas, as well as the south-western parts of Limpopo.

Meanwhile, it's another scorcher in the Northern Cape, western parts of the Free State, as well as the West Coast district, and the Beaufort West local municipalities in the Western Cape, with Sars issuing an extremely high fire danger warning.

Looking ahead, the forecaster predicts partly cloudy to cool conditions over parts of the country for Wednesday and Thursday.

There will also be isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern parts of the country while it will be hot in the western parts of SA.
