Severe storm alert: Warning of flooding, hail and strong winds across SA

SAWS Issues Weather Warning as Heavy Storms Loom Over Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Surrounding Regions

A Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours has been forecast over parts of the country, including Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) said the weather pattern, bringing with it localised flooding, strong winds and large amounts of hail, is forecast for over Gauteng, Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga, south-western parts of Limpopo, eastern parts of Free State and North-west as well as the north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The warning comes following reports of a severe thunderstorm, hail and lightning in parts of Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga on Sunday.

Meanwhile, an extremely high fire danger warning has been issued over the south western parts of Northern Cape and the western parts of Western Cape for Monday.
