Teacher shot dead at Stellenbosch school

A 54-year-old Stellenbosch teacher was shot dead in broad daylight near the main gate of a primary school in Kayamandi on Friday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the incident happened in Winnie Mandela Drive at about 1.10pm.
It is understood it is the Kayamandi Primary School.
Twigg said the deceased was 54 years old.
"Stellenbosch police registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident on Friday afternoon at a primary school where man was shot and fatally wounded," he said.
"Police members attended to the crime scene where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his body."
He said the man was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel.
"The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation and no arrests have been made yet.
