The Gauteng Division of the High Court in Pretoria has postponed the case against former Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, July 20, 2026.

Mapisa-Nqakula, a high-profile figure who has held various government portfolios, is accused of 12 counts of corruption and money laundering.

The charges centre around her alleged involvement in the solicitation and receipt of R4.5 million from a service provider, of which R2.1 million is claimed to have been received as cash. The ramifications of these allegations have been profound, not only for her career but also for the political landscape as a whole.

Through her new attorney, Mapisa-Nqakula has indicated that she will not pursue the option of filing representations with the office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) and is instead prepared to face trial.

In the meantime, the court has extended her bail amount of R50,000, maintaining her freedom pending the upcoming court appearance.
