A 24-year-old woman has appeared before the Musina Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo facing a charge of rape perpetrated against a 13-year-old boy.

The case was adjourned until Tuesday for profiling and further investigations.

Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said the woman, who cannot be named as part of the ongoing investigations, was arrested by detectives attached to the Musina family violence, child protection and sexual offences (FCS) unit on Friday.

“She allegedly raped a minor boy at around 3 pm at one of the local church shelters in the Musina policing area. It is reported that the suspect called the victim, while he was passing next to a crèche based at the shelter,” said Ledwaba.

“Apparently, he went to her, and he found the woman naked lying on the ground. She then started to touch him inappropriately in sensitive areas and subsequently raped him at a space not far from the dustbin.”

The rape incident was allegedly witnessed by another resident of the shelter who was going to the dustbin.

“The caretaker of the shelter was informed about the incident. Police were notified, and they opened the case of rape. The suspect was subsequently arrested,” said Ledwaba.

The police investigations are continuing.

On Monday, an 18-year-old Limpopo man and his mother, aged 35, appeared before the Letsitele Magistrate's Court in connection with the rape of a nine-year-old girl.

The horrendous rape incident happened at Lwandlamuni village in the Letsitele policing area under Mopani District. The mother is charged with failing to report the crime and was arrested on Saturday.
