Deadly tavern shooting in Olievehoutbosch, Pretoria, leaves five dead

Five people were killed in a tavern shooting on Friday night. Police are looking for atleast 10 suspects.

Police in Gauteng have launched a manhunt for suspects linked to a deadly tavern shooting in Olievehoutbosch in Pretoria that left five people dead. 

According to police, two women and three men were shot and killed inside a tavern in Shoba Informal Settlement in Olievehoutbosch on Friday, 18 July 2025, at around 10:30 pm.

Three others were injured.  

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo said police are on the lookout for approximately ten suspects.

"It is reported that the suspects came to a tavern and started shooting randomly, without saying a word. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.

"The police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder for investigation."

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
