The African National Congress on Tuesday reiterated that armed robbery suspect Errol Present was no longer employed by the party.
ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe's statement came after Present last Friday told the Roodepoort magistrate's court that he was being paid half his salary by the party, even after it said it had fired him over his arrest in connection with cash-in-transit heists.
"We further need to categorically state that it is immaterial whether he was a volunteer or employed permanently," Mabe said.
"Present is alleged to have committed serious crimes during the very employ he refers to in his affidavit, culminating in his immediate dismissal."
He said should Present feel aggrieved on the processes followed, he was welcome to approach any institution that would afford him satisfactory recourse.
